We had some big storms roll through this week, temps dropped, and for the first time in forever you could walk outside with an actual jacket. Not bad timing either since Thanksgiving is Thursday, Black Friday is…well…Friday and that means the December holidays are right around the corner.

This Week's Events

Scott Rogers Stand Up Special on Saturday, Nov 29 at 8pm at Courtyard Theater in Plano. Free entry, open bar, and it's being filmed. Not a bad Saturday night.

Women Owned Market in Downtown Plano on Sunday, Nov 30 from 11am to 6pm at McCall Plaza. 35+ local vendors with handmade finds, fashion, live DJ, permanent jewelry, hat bar, t shirt bar, and more. Support women owned businesses and find some unique stuff.

Spring Registration for Adult Sports opens Monday, Dec 1. Ready for slow pitch softball, soccer, kickball, or outdoor grass volleyball? Registration runs through early February 2026 with the season starting Feb 23. Visit teamsideline/plano to sign up.

Frisco Improv Players on Saturday, Nov 29 from 8 to 9:30pm at Frisco Discovery Center (8004 N. Dallas Parkway). Clean, game based improv comedy similar to "Whose Line is it Anyway?" Good for all ages.

Frosty 5K Packet Pickup on Wednesday, Dec 3 from 6:30am to 6:30pm and Thursday, Dec 4 from 8am to 8pm at Frisco Athletic Center (5828 Nancy Jane Lane). First 500 people to pick up their packet get the commemorative 20th Anniversary Frosty 5K Snow Globe Ornament.

Holiday Lights at Frisco Square runs through January 3 (6 to 10pm nightly). Free choreographed light show synced to music on 107.3. Drive through or walk around. Christmas in the Square activities are separate and may cost extra.

Neighborhood Grant Workshop on Monday, Dec 2 from 6:30 to 7:30pm at Castle Hills Community Center (2501 Queen Margaret Dr, Lewisville). Learn about City of Lewisville grants for exterior home repairs and neighborhood improvement projects including Property Enhancement Program, Neighborhood Enhancement Program, Love Your Block, Rock the Block Trailer, and Water Conservation Credit.

Punkin' Chunkin' on Friday, Nov 29 from noon to 3pm at Lewisville Lake Park (600 Sandy Beach Road). Send some pumpkins flying through Memorial Park. Build your own small marshmallow catapult with help from experts and put it to the test. Team registration for competitions, or just come watch for $6 per person.

MRT Presents: A Christmas Carol on Saturday, Nov 29 from 1:30 to 2:30pm at Courtroom Theater, McKinney Performing Arts Center (111 N. Tennessee St). Dr. Andrew Harris's one hour adaptation of the Dickens classic. Now in its 19th year. Tickets are $14.50 for adults, $11.50 for seniors 55+, and $9.50 for kids ages 4 to 18.

Home for the Holidays in Historic Downtown McKinney from Nov 28-30 (Friday & Saturday 10:30am to 9pm, Sunday noon to 5pm). Free admission. Tree lighting Friday at 6:15pm, visits with Santa, carousel, children's crafts, letters to Santa, and more.

Celina Turkey Trot 5K on Wednesday, Nov 27 at 7:45am (127 N. Ohio St, Celina). Dress up in Thanksgiving themed costumes. Music and awards. A 1 mile walk or run is also planned. Portion of proceeds go to Lovepacs, an organization focused on feeding children in need. $30 to $40.

Heritage Farmstead's Lights on the Farm 2025 is here. Step into a winter wonderland with 2M+ lights, a glowing 4 acre trail, festive photo ops, s'mores, hot cocoa, holiday music, Santa nightly, and character meet and greets. Adults Night Out on Dec 11 features a Red, White & Lights Wine Walk. Gates at 6pm, last entry at 9pm, closes at 9:30pm. Buy tickets early at heritagefarmstead.org/events because it sells out. Limited parking with free shuttle from Pickleball Kingdom on Custer. Handicap parking on Pitman Drive. Cashless event.

Big News

Frisco Wins Digital Cities Award: Frisco earned seventh place in its population category in the 2025 Digital Cities Survey for its expanding use of artificial intelligence and resident centered digital services.

Addison May Join DART Exit Vote: After leaders in Plano, Irving, Highland Park, and Farmers Branch scheduled elections to consider leaving DART next May, Addison's City Council could join them. They're voting at a special meeting Tuesday, Dec 2 to decide if they'll put DART membership on the ballot. If voters choose to leave on May 2, DART services in Addison would cease immediately.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano has named Clint Abernathy as president, effective Nov 30. He comes from Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance where he spent a decade as president and oversaw significant expansion including growth from 50 to 151 patient beds and emergency department expansion from 15 to 42 beds.

Energy company buys landmark McKinney building: Oil and gas company Eckard Enterprises bought the eight story District 121 office building at 7300 State Highway 121 from Kaizen Development Partners. The building will serve as the company's new headquarters after it outgrew its current space in Allen.

Food & Restaurants

Pappalecco (Italian inspired café from San Diego) is opening its first Texas location in Plano on Saturday, January 10, 2026 with a ribbon cutting at 11am. Known for artisanal coffee, gelato, pastries, and paninis. Grand opening weekend features 50% off all menu items (excluding alcoholic beverages).

Kirin Court (longtime Chinese dim sum restaurant) opened its second location in Plano on Nov 25 at 1301 Custer Rd #850. After 20 years in Richardson, they've finally expanded. Grand opening celebrated Nov 29 at 11am with a lion dance. Open seven days a week from 11am to 9pm.

Heads Up

Carrollton Cease the Grease: Stop by City of Carrollton Central Service Center (2711 Nimitz Lane) from 8am to 6pm on Monday, Dec 1 and Tuesday, Dec 2 to properly dispose of cooking oil, meat fats, lard, shortening, and grease left over from holiday meals. Free event. This is the 17th year Carrollton has coordinated this.

Solomon Security Plano launched comprehensive security camera installation services for educational institutions including schools, daycare centers, and educational facilities. The program addresses campus safety while incorporating privacy protections and age appropriate security measures.

Sports

SMU sits at 8-3 (6-1 in ACC play) with a trip to Cal on Saturday. Despite the loss, they're still in the hunt for the ACC Championship game and a spot in the College Football Playoff. They need to win AND either Pitt or Virginia to lose

North Texas sits at 10-1 (6-1 in the American) playing Temple 52-14 on Friday. The Mean Green are ranked #21 in the AP Poll and will with a win, will play in the American Athletic Conference Championship game on Saturday, Dec 6. If they win, they're likely headed to the College Football Playoff. What a season.

The Cowboys beat the Eagles!!!! They host the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving Thursday at 3:30pm (CBS). This could be a huge way to keep the momentum going against one of the NFL's best teams.

The Mavs are at the Lakers on Friday, Nov 28th, and at the Clippers on Saturday, Nov 29th. They're struggling at 5-14 to start the season and need to figure things out fast. Rookie Cooper Flagg continues to impress as the youngest Maverick ever at 18 years old.

The Stars host Utah on Friday, Nov 28, and host Ottawa on Sunday, Nov 30. They're still sitting pretty with a solid record and looking like legit Stanley Cup contenders this year.
